You don’t get to be middle-aged without realizing that trusims and cliches exist for a reason. Here, a handful of wise words that have helped us along the way, either given or received:

You cannot change other people, only yourself.

You can be right or you can be related. Choose.

Honesty without compassion is just veiled hostility.

Let go or be dragged.

Listen when people tell you who they are.

Forgiveness is giving up the hope that the past could be different.

Always make the assumption that people will like you.

No one ever died from their emotions.

Sometimes it’s not you, it is actually them.

I can’t always fix everything, but bearing witness can be healing.

The Woolfer
Woolfers, all women over 40, share a certain sensibility — a sense of humor, an appreciation of art and culture and literature, a desire to be candid, kind, self-reflective, and thoughtful — while also coming from a wide range of backgrounds and perspectives.
