How did you become a Woolfer?
Nina is a close friend and I was one of the original members, back when it was a secret group.
How was the idea for Raging Gracefully conceived?
We were out having drinks at Colonie one night and I persuaded Nina that we needed to have a podcast and that it would be super easy and fabulous. Then I sat down at my computer and sketched it out. I agonized for days over the music and the title and then while we were brainstorming podcast topics, Nina put the music question to the group and, as always, the Woolfers came through. Someone recommended Storm Large’s “Eight Miles Wide,” now our anthem. Tracking down Storm Large for permission to use it is a whole other story.
What’s the most interesting thing you learned while researching for Raging Gracefully?
Hmmm. So many to chose from. I think I have to go with the sexual proclivities of the very promiscuous female bonobos, our closest non-human primates, from whom we can learn a lot. Thank you Wednesday Martin!
Greatest new discovery?
Beautiful disposable vape pens by Beboe. They’re gold and tiny and so precious. And they get the job done!
Last Google search?
Real estate in Madrid. I’ve always got one foot out the door and this time I’m planning on moving to Spain for a year with my husband and our youngest daughter. She’s 14 and we are hoping to spend her 10th-grade year in Spain. Ordinarily, it would be health related as I love diagnosing other people’s health problems with my doctorate from Google U.
Tell us something surprising about yourself.
I’m a high school dropout who went to Harvard Law School.
Last song you sang out loud?
Patti Smith’s “Gloria.”
What’s your vice?
Vodka, although our sobering podcast on alcohol has definitely decreased my consumption. And I like a nice edible or a vape.
Greatest pet peeve?
My pet peeve is Verizon. It’s like the guy you have great sex with but hate. You just keep going back for more even though you know you shouldn’t. And Sprint just doesn’t do it for me.
