Sarah E. Rivkin
We utilize the best of Traditional East Asian medicine: gentle Japanese-style acupuncture, custom herbal formulations, movement therapies (qigong, sotai, and yoga), massage, dietary strategies, and more.

Since 2006, we've been helping adults and children find their personal path to wellness. Let us help you find yours!

Although the heart of her practice is women's and children's health, Sarah successfully treats a wide range of conditions—from joint pain to digestive problems, infertility to insomnia. Her treatments go far beyond acupuncture, encompassing herbs, movement, massage, nutrition, and lifestyle counseling.
Sarah has advanced certification in Japanese Acupuncture and has completed the two-year Graduate Mentorship Program with Sharon Weizenbaum. She has extensive training in the application of classical herbal formulas from living master herbalists, Dr. Huang Huang and Dr. Feng Shi Lun. Sarah has also completed the Engaging Vitality program, integrating osteopathic palpation and acupuncture, with Dan Bensky and Chip Chase. She is a longtime qigong student of Thomas Droge and Master Zhongxian Wu. Her expertise in movement analysis additionally stems from many years of training in Iyengar yoga, the Alexander Technique, and Dalcroze Eurythmics.

Sarah holds a Masters of Science in Traditional Oriental Medicine from Touro College and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors from Northwestern University. She is a New York State-licensed acupuncturist and is nationally board certified in Oriental Medicine by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She completed a two-year internship at Lutheran Medical Center in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, in the obstetrics, oncology, and orthopedic-neurological rehabilitation departments. After completing her graduate degree, she continued to provide acupuncture at Lutheran for labor and delivery patients, as part of an ongoing research study.

In addition to a dozen years in private practice, Sarah is an experienced teacher, writer, and editor in the field of Traditional East Asian Medicine. She is currently on the faculty of the Chinese Herbology Certificate Program at Tri-State College of Acupuncture, where she's been instrumental in the design and implementation of a unique case-based learning curriculum, and has taught the integrative gynecology course for master's degree students at Pacific College of Oriental Medicine.

She has served on the advisory board of Easy Eats, a health and wellness magazine and spent four years as an editor for The American Acupuncturist, an academic journal. Other past professional activities include a term on the board of the Acupuncture Society of New York (ASNY), the state professional organization for acupuncture. She lectures publicly on a variety of topics, including keeping healthy with Traditional East Asian Medicine, qi gong, and acupressure for infants.

Sarah lives with her family in Park Slope, Brooklyn.
